Cookie Policy
- Caravan only uses cookies and browser storage it needs to sign you in, keep your account safe and remember what you’re doing.
- We don’t use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. That’s why Caravan doesn’t ask for cookie consent. If that ever changes, we’ll ask first.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Websites can also keep information in your browser’s local storage and session storage. This page lists everything Caravan stores this way.
Cookies we use
All of these are set by trycaravan.io itself and are strictly necessary for the parts of Caravan you use. Names ending in “…” have a short code added for a particular trip or request.
| Name | What it’s for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
sb-…-auth-token | Keeps you signed in. Set by Supabase, our sign-in provider, and may be split into numbered parts. | Up to 400 days, renewed while you use Caravan. Removed when you sign out. |
sb-…-auth-token-code-verifier | Completes Sign in with Google securely. | Until sign-in finishes. |
caravan-pending-signup | Remembers the email you signed up with, so we can show the “check your email” step. | 1 hour |
caravan-recovery-session | Lets you choose a new password after opening a reset link. | 15 minutes |
caravan_google_next | Remembers where to return after Sign in with Google. | 10 minutes |
caravan_account_next | Remembers where to return after you finish setting up your account. | 20 minutes |
caravan_invite_session | Keeps your place while you answer a trip invitation. | 7 days |
caravan_p15_join_code | Holds a trip join code while you sign in or create an account. | 1 day |
caravan_p15_guest_…, caravan_p15_return_… | Let a guest return to the trip they joined. | 120 days |
caravan_group_… | Keeps your place in a group trip link. | 120 days |
p15_delete_… | Lets you check the result of an account deletion request. | 90 days |
Caravan’s own cookies can’t be read by scripts on the page and are sent only over secure connections. The sign-in cookie from Supabase is readable by Caravan’s own pages, which need it to load your trips.
Browser storage
| Where | What it’s for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
Local storage: caravan.p15.appearance.v1 | Your reduce motion and text size choices. | Until you change them or clear your browser’s data. |
| Session storage | Drafts of what you’re typing, such as a new trip, a chat message, a find or a day plan, so refreshing the page doesn’t lose them. | Until you close the tab. New trip drafts are ignored after 24 hours. |
Content from other websites
Some photos load directly from Booking.com’s and Wikimedia’s servers. Like any image request, this sends them your IP address and basic browser details. Caravan doesn’t load advertising, analytics or social media scripts.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. Because Caravan’s cookies are needed to sign you in and keep your place, blocking them will stop sign-in and invitations from working. Signing out removes the sign-in cookies.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add analytics or any other cookie that isn’t strictly necessary, we’ll ask for your consent first and update this page. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
